Members may also join monthly Bullseye pistol and air pistol matches, the Bull Run Muzzle Loaders shoot, High Power rifle practice, registered ATA/NSSA shoots, JOAD archery, NoVA Sharpshooters, and the annual Women on Target clinic.

Membership FAQ

How much is it to join?

Dues vary with age, location, and volunteer-hour discounts. Individual membership (one range badge) is $211 per year before discounts; family membership (two range badges) is $310.50. New members also pay a one-time $190 initiation fee that covers building maintenance and grounds upkeep. Dues are your only fees — there are no range fees — but you supply your own consumables (targets, ammunition, and so on).

When is the membership year, and when are dues due?

The membership year runs January 1 to December 31, and all dues must be paid by December 31. A late fee applies after that. For new members, dues are pro-rated semi-annually by the month you join.

When are New Member Orientations?

Classes are usually held on the first Saturday of each month, October through June, and last about three hours. They cover the chapter’s history and goals, range safety rules and procedures, and more. Reserve a seat through SignUpGenius, and bring a check or cash for your initiation fee and first year’s dues (PayPal credit card payments are also accepted).

Are service hours required?

Yes. Each new member contributes 6 hours of service to the chapter — grounds or range maintenance, project work, or indoor service such as helping at orientations, assisting the membership office, or cleaning the chapter house.

Do I have to qualify for each range?

No. Once you earn your range badge you can use any range.

Can my family come with me?

Range-qualified members may bring any immediate family members; all range rules still apply and the badge holder must be present. Family members cannot attend on their own, unless you purchase a second range-qualified membership: each badge holder (who must be 18 or older) can then attend alone and bring a guest. A family membership means two adults, 18 or older, living in the same household.

Can I bring guests?

Range-qualified members may bring a guest up to three times a year (some ranges charge a guest fee). Immediate family members can be brought as guests an unlimited number of times, with no guest fee. Firearm ranges are open only when a Range Safety Officer is present.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes, through PayPal, but the vendors charge fees. Checks and cash are also accepted. Questions: membershipscy@arlingtonfairfax-iwla.org or 703-631-4495.
